Mary Ellen Lee, also known as Mary E. Barefield, 74, of Palacios passed away August 13, 2020. She was born February 17, 1946 in Port Lavaca, TX to the late Crockett Barefield and Maybelle B. Green Barefield.

She was a member of the Palacios Church of Christ and worked with Friends of Elder Citizens for 9 years. At an early age she began cooking at Petersen's Restaurant in Palacios where she worked for 20 years.  More recently she was employed as an operator for Interplast.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Sadie Barefield, Betty J. Barefield and Betsy L. Barefield and a brother David Crockett Barefield.

Survivors include her husband Morgan Odell Jones; sisters Mattie J. Davis & husband Paul and Lillian B. Triplett & husband Charles and brothers Ugene S. Barefield & wife Margaret, Roy Barefield & wife Judy and Joe A. Barefield & wife Rosemary.

Her wishes were to be cremated. No services are planned at this time.
