Martha Eureka Martin Neuszer was born on February 24, 1906, in Gillette, Karnes County, Texas. This baby girl, destined to live life to its fullest, was the daughter of Eureka Billings Martin and Frank Duffy Martin. Mrs. Neuszer was a long time resident of Blessing, TX. She died on May 2, 2007, in Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City, TX, after having lived over a century at the age of 101 years, 2 months, 8 days.

Mrs. Neuszer was preceded in death by her husband, Leo P. Neuszer; her parents, two brothers, Clyde and Earl Martin; and three sisters, Eula Martin, Selma Rollins, and Leona Rackley; her son-in-law, Bob Ackerman of Blessing, and one infant granddaughter, Connie Lynnette Neuszer. She is survived by on daughter, Margie Ackerman of Blessing, TX; one son, Leo Neuszer and wife, Nalona of Bay City, TX; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and seven great, great grandchildren; sister Dora Martin of Columbus, TX, several nieces and nephews.

Martha Eureka Martin, completed high school in Sample, TX, in April 1925. She later married Leo P. Neuszer in Gonzales, TX, on December 21, 1927, after which time they later moved to Matagorda County in 1927, first in Deutschburg Community, then to the Blessing Community. The family moved to the present home site in January 1939, where Mrs. Neuszer lived until November 2005, before becoming a resident in the Matagorda House Nursing Home. During her latter years Mrs. Neuszer remained quite active in spite of her advanced age, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Blessing. She was an avid member of the Midfield Home Demonstration Club. Her publicized hobby has been crocheting baby and children's caps. In April 2001, M.D. Anderson, Houston, TX, recorded 810 caps, which she donated to their children's unit. Since then, until November 2005, Mrs. Neuszer continued to crochet caps for the hospital, as well as for Women's Pregnancy Center in Bay City, TX.

Funeral services, conducted by her grandson-in-law, Rev. James Collins, will be held at Palacios Funeral Home in Palacios, TX, on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Hawley Cemetery immediately following the services.
