IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marshall Ray
Holloway
June 19, 1952 – June 1, 2021
Marshall Ray Holloway, 68, left this earth to be with the Lord on June 1, 2021. Marshall was born on June 19, 1952 in Bay City, TX to Edwin and Charlotte Holloway. Marshall grew up in Bay City, attended Bay City High School where he received his welding certification and graduated in 1971.
Growing up he was the youngest of 3 kids. He enjoyed his mom's southern cooking, working cows with his dad, farming on Six Bar Ranch, playing baseball, and steer wrestling at rodeos. As an adult, he participated in many cattle drives with his dad and was even featured on the front page of the Houston Newspaper. He loved playing softball, where he really enjoyed playing with his family on The Cuz softball team. He enjoyed coaching his sons Blessing area baseball teams, including all-stars, and assisting with their show steers and heifers while they were in 4-H and FFA. Marshall loved attending his son's extra-curricular activities. He also served for many years on the Matagorda County Fair and Livestock Board and the Tidehaven Youth Boosters.
After high school he pursued a career as a welder in the oil industry which then led to a career in the plastics and chemical plant industry. He then became a licensed welding inspector which allowed him to travel across the United States and abroad, including Germany and Amsterdam, as well as stints on offshore oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. As he advanced his career as an inspector, he led projects as the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspector, Quality Assurance Lead Mechanical Inspector, and Rotating and Static Equipment Inspector at different job locations. His most recent job was in Monaca, Pennsylvania, where he was a Construction Engineer on a Shell refinery project.
While home from work, he enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Joyce. He also enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, and family. Marshall took joy in watching his grandkids participate in various events. He made friends every place he visited or worked and loved to tell stories about fun times in his life. Marshall loved helping others and would go out of his way to help someone in need. He enjoyed riding his Harley, making unique gifts with his welding machine and horseshoes, and sitting in his favorite spot in the kitchen watching TV. Marshall was always up for celebrating with family at the house on holiday weekends, which always included a BBQ.
Marshall is survived by his wife of 20 years Joyce, son Heath (Elle) Holloway, son in-law Nat Licudine, son Jason Wheaton, daughter Shannon (Brent) Halcumb, daughter Amanda (Gary) Clarke, granddaughter Taylor Holloway, grandkids Jacob and Savanna Halcumb and Mecka and Kendal Clarke. Sisters Ann (Bob) Chapman and Sue (Toad) Ashcraft. Along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Cody Holloway, mother Charlotte Holloway, father Edwin Holloway and stepmother Barbara Holloway.
A private celebration of life will be held in La Marque, TX on July 31, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Heart Association in Marshall's name.
