Obituary

Marion Jerry Lezak, 92 of El Maton, Texas passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his four children and their love.  Marion was born April 4, 1931 in Sealy, Texas to Claudia and Jerry Lezak.  He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953 as a Corporal during the Korean War where he was a tank mechanic.  He was a long time member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing, Texas and in his final years, a member of St. Dominic Village, Warren Chapel in Houston. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Isidore Council #4307 of Blessing, Texas.

Marion was raised on a farm in El Maton, the second oldest son of a large family.  He told many stories of the hard work of farming, especially picking cotton by hand, but also stories of the love of his family. He was a hard worker and one of the legacies he passed to his children was his incredible work ethic. In 1957 he married Teresa Lukefahr from Bay City and together they raised four children.  During this time he graduated with his Master's Degree from Sam Houston State University.  He was an Industrial Arts "Shop" teacher at Clute Intermediate School for many years.  It was a fitting occupation for him as he was a true craftsman and could build and fix anything.  He cared greatly for his students going above and beyond for many of them.  People still tell us how he made a difference in their lives.

Marion's greatest legacy was his love for the Lord Jesus.  His daily routine included attending Mass, leading the Rosary, reading the Bible and praying to Jesus, Mother Mary, St. Joseph and The Holy Spirit every day.  His love of the Lord, serving others and the love for his family brought him great joy.  He was a faithful servant to the Lord.

Marion is survived by his children, Paul Lezak and wife Crystal, Jan Alverson and husband Chris, David Lezak and wife Jennifer, Karen Nazir and husband Faisal, and their mother Teresa Lezak.  Known affectionately as "Poppy", "Grandpa" and "Pops", he is survived by his beloved grandchildren Zane, Alia, Hannah, Katie, Alexa, Warren, Austin, Claire and Emily.  He is also survived by his siblings Edward Lezak, Dolores Landsman, Bobby Lezak and Laverne Tagtmeyer.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Claudia Lezak and his siblings Anna Marie Lezak, Anthony Lezak, Jerry Lezak and Evelyn Landry.

The Rosary will be held at 9:30am with the Funeral Mass following at 10:00am on Thursday, August 17th at St. Dominic Village, Warren Chapel in Houston with Rev. Father Michael Corrigan officiating.  A meal will be served after the Funeral Mass.  Interment will follow the next day on Friday, August 18th at 10:00am at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Blessing, Texas with Rev. Father Gabriel J. Mensah officiating.
