Marie Charlston, 76, of Sargent passed away on March 19, 2012. Marie was born on June 4, 1935 in Houston to the late Jefferson Milam & Naomi Eileen Klipper Matthews. She retired from H.I.S.D. after 31 years of teaching. Marie was passionate about educating students from challenging home environments. She volunteered for the Home Owner Association in Sargent, and was a charter member of the Friends of the Sargent Library. Her hobbies included the Book Club, Scrabble Club, fishing, and boating. Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years: Frank Charlston; 2 daughters: Vicki Turrentine & husband Mickey, and Valerie Lampson & husband Milton; son: Doug Charlston & wife Stefanie; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Gantz officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland at 1:00 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Friends of the Sargent Library, P. O. Box 4072, Sargent, TX 77404-4072.
