Maria Elva Avila ,80, of Bay City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2019. She was born March 18, 1938 in Raymondville, Texas to Benito and Fernanda Cortinas Sr.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Enrequita Ortiz and Ernestina Bargas, and brothers Samuel Cortinas and Benito Cortinas Jr.  She is survived by her husband Santos Avila, Sr.; son Santos Avila, Jr. (Norma); daughter Mary Ann Oros (Anthony); brother George Cortinas (Margaret) ; sisters Elida Samarippas, Evangelina Reyna (Adam Sr.) and Dolores Martinez; five grandchildren, April Babik (CJ), Duane Avila, Celestina Cruz (Martin), Harlee Vargas (Cristian) and Carolina Hernandez, and six great grandchildren, Crissa Hamor, Tristan Cruz, Ashlin Avila, Sciara Babik, Trinity Cruz and Laina Avila.

The family will receive visitors 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, March 19 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Services are 10:00am Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers are Anthony Oros, Duane Avila, Cristian Vargas, Martin Cruz, Tristan Cruz, CJ Babik, George Martinez and Carolina Hernandez.
