Margaret "Peggy" Nielsen Schmitt , 66, of Bay City was born December 8th, 1948 in Seattle Washington, and was adopted by Lester and Ragnhild Nielsen.

Several years after Lester's death, her Mother remarried and moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa. Peggy graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1967. She attended business school in Des Moines, Iowa. There she met future husband Jerry Schmitt. They were married on November 8th, 1968.

Following a job opportunity, Jerry and Peggy moved to Galveston, Texas in August of 1969 along with new-born son Nicholas. Their second son, Russell, was born March 2nd, 1972.

The family moved to and settled in Bay City, Texas in March of 1972.

Peggy's hobbies included bowling, caring for her pets and animals, also feeding birds and squirrels in the back yard. She loved her pet parrot like a 3rd child. She also enjoyed camping, especially sitting by the campfires.

Peggy is survived by husband Jerry, sons Nicholas and Russell, daughters in law Sara Holton Schmitt and Len (Sissy) Tucker Schmitt, Grandson Tyler Schmitt, Granddaughters Hallie Schmitt and Bailey Schmitt.
