Margaret Eloise Holmes Johnson was born May 17, 1917 in Olivia, Texas. She was called home December 20, 2007 near where she was born and raised. She was the first of the Holmes girls. She and her husband Charles R. Johnson were Farm and Ranch Stewards. They never left the Matagorda, Jackson, Calhoun County area which they loved so much. She was active in the First Presbyterian Church in Palacios.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frances Anders Holmes and Burrell Prather Holmes; husband; granddaughter Alison Johnson; daughter-in-law Debie Johnson; grandson Randy Krause; and sisters Elizabeth Jose & Lenora Young Hallmark. Survivors include son Galen Johnson and daughter Gwen Krause of Olivia; grandchildren Charles R. Johnson, Ted & Diane Krause, Mark & Cyndi Krause, and Mark & Lauren Howell; great grandchildren Kevin, William & Robert Krause, Douglas Davey, and Shaughnessy Howell and sisters Agnes Ballard & Joan Crews.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Palacios with Revs. Andy & Janel Blair officiating. Interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
