Mara Calderon Martinez (43) of Palacios, TX, passed away on June 13, 2024. Mara was born on May 15, 1981 in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Maria Del Rosario Martinez and Sergio E Martinez. As a child Mara was a bright and joyful person who could light up a room with her eyes and her beautiful smile.

Mara graduated from Palacios High school in 1999 and went on to attend Victoria Community College. Mara graduated with a degree in Medical and Legal Administration in 2000 and went on to become a Pre-K Paraprofessional for Palacios ISD at Central Elementary for 19 years. She loved all of "her kids" that she worked with over the years and was always greeted affectionately by past and present students as Ms. Mara.

One of Maras passions was makeup, she loved buying new products and enjoyed having a reason to get all dolled up. Mara loved to spend time with family and friends, and enjoyed catering to whomever came over. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and an ear to listen. Mara truly was a kind and independent soul despite her challenges.

Mara was preceded in death by her Maternal and Paternal Grandparents, and is survived by her Mother and Father; Brothers Efren Martinez (girlfriend Ilusion), and Sergio Calderon (wife Kimberly); Sister Miranda DeLeon, and her Niece & Nephews Trey, Zane and Arabella Ortiz.

A Celebration of her life will be at 11AM July 6th, 2024 at Agape Family Outreach Church, 1811 Newsome Blvd, Palacios, TX 77465.  The family asks for those in attendance to wear white or bright colors.
