Obituary

Mary Magdalene "Maggie" Litzler Weathers, 95, of Cedar Lane, Texas passed away on August 26, 2017 in Bay City, Texas. She was born on May 11, 1922 in Tavener, Texas to John and Sarah Elizabeth (Miller) Litzler. Being the only girl, she had eleven brothers, Martin, James, Willie John, Herman, Anton, Frank, Samuel, Milton, JB, Ernest, and Andrew Litzler.

Maggie graduated from Boling High School. On February 26, 1949 she married Ben Weathers of Cedar Lane. They resided in Cedar Lane their entire married life and to this union five children were born.

Maggie was a member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church. Seldom did she miss and we are thankful of the Christian home and teachings. Also, she was very active in the Cedar Lane Home Demonstration Club.

Maggie loved to sew and on many occasions made her four daughters matching dresses. She was never idle, always busy cooking, gardening, growing ivies, canning, shelling pecans, and making her special Christmas divinity. In her later years, she picked up sewing baby doll clothes for her granddaughters, and quilt tops for her family and church family. Mom always had a hot meal ready for us to eat, her chicken and drop dumplings were amazing. Her children have fond memories of getting off the school bus and smelling the homemade rolls ready to come out of the oven and served with her dewberry jelly.

She is survived by her daughters, Bennie Lewis of Bay City, TX; Bobbie Anderson and husband James of Pearland, TX; Billie Rosenbaum and husband Ben of Columbus, TX; Bettie Granberry and husband Kelsey of Bay City, TX; and son Barry Weathers and wife Laurie of Bay City, TX; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, Jason Lewis and his daughter Paige; Tammy Lewis Smith and husband Trey and their daughter, Adeline; Brian Lewis and wife Robbi and their children, Noah, Jaidyn, Chase and Hailey; Alicia Anderson Saldivar and husband Joe and their children, Grace and Hunter; Amy Anderson Moss and husband Terek and their children, Kayden and Landon; Jennifer Weathers and fiancé Gino Vaiani and her son Brayden; Blake Rosenbaum and wife Charity and their sons, Rhett and Brock; and Jerrica Weathers and her daughter Kynlee; 1 great great grandson, Nathan Rockett; one sister-in-law, Wilma Litzler of Fort Worth, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son-in-law Larry Lewis, and her brothers.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 4, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City; and on Tuesday, 9:00 to 10:00 am at Cedar Lane Baptist Church, Cedar Lane, TX.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, 10:00 am at Cedar Lane Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Patterson officiating.
