Obituary

Maggie McKelvy Estlinbaum, 93, was born in Bay City, Texas, on August 19, 1916, the 13th child of John Wesley and Maggie Drew McKelvy. She passed away on December 17, 2009, in Bay City, Texas.
Maggie and Clyde Estlinbaum married on December 20th, 1936, at the First Presbyterian Church in Bay City. They made their home in Wadsworth until 1952. Maggie is survived by her children, John "Hoody" Estlinbaum and his wife Shelby, of Bay City, and Lola Estlinbaum Huitt of Spring Branch, Texas.
Maggie is also survived by six grandchildren: Craig Estlinbaum, Mike Estlinbaum, Deb Fieldsend, Cat Huitt, Adam Huitt, and Brad Huitt; and by 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Estlinbaum, who passed away on October 15, 1982. She also was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Wesley, Mart, Siaro, Edward, William, James, Beall, Johnny and W.G. "Cudgy;" and by her sisters Lola Elizabeth, Mittie Irene, and Nora Bell.
Maggie was installed into the Eastern Star, served as Worthy Matron and was a Lifetime Member. She volunteered at Matagorda General Hospital as a Pink Lady from 1961 until she retired. She was an avid bridge player and her other hobbies included cooking and knitting.
The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Matagorda House Health Care Center (The Legacy) and Houston Hospice of El Campo staffs for the tender and loving care they provided to their mother during her last years.
The family request no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City or to a charity of choice.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5pm to 7pm Friday at the funeral home. Services will be held at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Chris Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.
