Mable Lee Smith, 98, passed away December 14, 2007. She was born October 23, 1909 in Freestone County, Texas to the late Dora Bell Smith and R. G. Christian.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin R. Smith, sisters Nettie Barger & Lilie Mae Comber; brothers Clifton, Gilbert, Lewis, & Clyde Wilson Christian; son Robert Alfred Smith and daughter Helen Frances Smith.

Survivors include daughters Doris Bowen of Edna, Mary Lou Thurman of Justin, TX, Gale Helwig of Victoria & Joyce Cochran of Georgetown; sons Jasper Roy Smith of Wild Peach, Charlie Wayne Smith of Blessing, Tommy Lee Smith of Houston and Lewis Franklin Smith of Bay City; sister Iva Bell Rinker of Arlington; brothers Albert Christian of Arlington and Gomer Christian of Dallas and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
