Obituary

Lydia Ann Diaz, 54, of Bay City, Texas passed away July 1, 2016 at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was born September 6, 1961 in Bay City, Texas. Her parents were the late Castulo and Margarita B. Carrion. She was married to Javier Diaz was a housewife and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Lydia loved to play and coach volleyball. Volleyball was a big part of her life and she played for many years. She also had a passion for retail and had a couple of second hand stores that she owned in different times of her life. She loved to have a good time and was the life of the party. She also loved to go fishing, to garden and to crochet but later in life her illness prevented her from enjoying these activities. She enjoyed spending time with her cousins especially Anna Vega and her aunt whom she loved as a second mother, Tia Lupe Benavides. Yet the greatest part of her life was dedicated to her grandchildren whom she loved very much. Seeing them grow and trying to teach them to play volleyball made her very happy.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to mourn her: husband of 30 years, Javier Diaz; daughters, Maggie Monroy of Bay City, Sister Maria del Rosario Resendez of Victoria, and Christi Lara (Ricardo) of Bay City; granddaughters, Alexis, Karla and Angela (Gigi) Monroy; grandsons, Ricardo Jr. and Christian Lara; siblings: John Benavides (Sylvia), Rosemary Montalvo (Greg), Clara Hurtado (Abel), Patricia Benavides and Lupe Machado (Benny). She is also survived by her brother in law whom she loved like a brother, Bruno Diaz, her very special niece, Susie Brito and many more family and friends.
