Lula Mae Hinton, 88, of Bay City passed away June 25, 2020. She was born December 28, 1931 in Bay City to the late D. B. "Jack" Hinton and Helen Marie Parker Hinton.
She was a graduate of Bay City High School and Southwest Texas State University. She worked for GMAC for 25 years before joining her sister Sarah in operating Hinton's Store.
She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church and attended regularly until her health began to fail. Lula logged many hours volunteering for the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid fan of the Houston Astros.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother David Parker Hinton, her sister Sarah Hinton Hilton, brother-in-law Bill Hilton and her nephew David Boyd Hinton II.
Survivors include her nieces Shelley Hinton Collins & her husband Dr. Stephen Collins and Sarah Lu Hinton; nephews Craig Parker Hinton & his wife Jeannie and Alan Lee "Spot" Hinton; great nieces and nephews Lauren Hinton Taylor & her husband Porter, Allison Kate Hinton, Julie Collins Donald & her husband Adam, Andrew Edward Collins, Will Parker Collins, Grant Stephen Collins and Stacie Lee Herring; 2 great-great nieces and 2 great-great nephews. She also leaves her friend and caregiver Ruby Batchelar and her long-time friend and neighbor Pearl Zemanek.
Graveside services will be 5:00 PM Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Cedarvale Cemetery.
Lula Mae's family wishes to acknowledge their gratitude to the staff of Elmcroft Assisted Living and Houston Hospice for the love and care given to her.
