Luis Zavala, Sr., 60, of Blessing passed away January 24, 2015. He was born in Piedras Negras, Mexico to the late Antonio Zavala and Julia Carrillo Zavala on August 26, 1954.

He is survived by his wife Bertha Esquivel Zavala of Blessing; four children Irene Esquivel (Hugo) of Blessing, Luis R. Zavala, Jr. (Erica) of Palacios, Lucinda M. Rubio (Rigo) of El Campo and Julia N. Ibarra (Gilbert) of Pearsall; four grandchildren who were his world, Nathan Ray and Hanna N. Zavala & Michael and Morgan Ibarra; two sisters Maria del Rosario Reyes and Inocencia Aguilar of Lufkin, TX; four brothers, Telesforo Zavala of Lufkin, TX, Jacobo Zavala & Jesus Zavala of Piedras Negras, MX and Leopoldo Zavala of Elsa, TX and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be 10:00 AM Thursday, January 29, 2015 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Blessing with Rev. Peter Yeboah-Amanfo officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hugo Ibarra, Gilbert Ibarra, Rigo Rubio, Jamie Esquivel, David Esquivel and Joe Esquivel. Luis R. Zavala and Armando Ibarra, Sr. will serve as honorary pallbearers.
