Lucy Cano, 85, of Palacios TX passed away February 3, 2021. She was born July 18, 1935 in Blessing, TX to Simone Yanes and Margarita Suniga Yanes.

Lucy Y. Cano resided in Houston, TX and moved to Palacios, TX and resided there from 1982 until her death. She received her GED from Wharton Junior College and was a Palacios City Council Woman. Lucy also was a Queen of the Senior Citizen Center. She worked for a Houston delivery service as a saleswoman and retired in the early 90's. Lucy loved cooking, and entertaining her children and grandchildren. She was a great Christian woman.

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Mary Lou Vega and Irene Benevidez. She is survived by her sons Oscar Mata, Danny Mata and Clyde Mata; sisters Margaret Nunez, Gloria Sanchez, Joanne Linden and Linda Villagran; brothers Gilbert Yanes, Joe Yanes, Victor Yanes and Joe Morales; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The Rosary will be held 9:30 am Monday, February 8, 2021 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery.
