Obituary

Loucile Mary White was born February 7, 1921, to Byron White and Adele (Erwin) White in Aransas Pass, Texas, where she grew up and attended school. She met her husband, Forrest James Schulte, at a local dance.

Loucile and Forrest married on December 2, 1941. Forrest joined the Army Airforce after the bombing of Pearl Harbor just five days later.  Loucile lived with her parents in Aransas Pass while Forrest served overseas during World War II.  Before Forrest returned from the war, she gave birth to their first child, a still-born son.

After the war, Loucile and Forrest settled down in several places during their marriage: Schulenberg, Corpus Christi, Palacios, then Hallettsville, and finally back to Palacios, Texas, where she resided until 2006. The couple raised two daughters and one son.  Loucile worked as a bookkeeper for several companies, finishing her bookkeeping career with the Palacios Independent School District.  Loucile, devoted to family, was a hard-working and loving wife and mother.  She loved her Lord, Jesus. She belonged to the First Methodist Churches of Aransas Pass, Hallettsville, and then Palacios.  Loucile joined the First Baptist Church of Palacios after Forrest's death where she counted the offering on Sunday mornings.  She was always fastidious about her appearance and the appearance of her modest home.  After suffering a mini-stroke in 2006, Loucile moved to a small apartment in Victoria, Texas, near her daughter, Sandie.  Suffering more mini-strokes, she moved to an assisted living facility in Victoria and, then in North Richland Hills.  After another series of mini-stokes, Loucile moved to the Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Victoria.  When Sandra moved to Arizona in 2016, Loucile was moved to the Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation home in Gonzales, Texas, where she went to be with her Lord on December 18, 2019.

Loucile was preceded in death by her first child, Byron James Schulte, by her husband, Forrest, by her parents, Adele and Byron White, and by her three brothers, Winston White of Aransas Pass, Texas, Earl White of Harlingen, Texas, and Alvin White of Kingwood, Texas.

Loucile is survived by her three children:  Sandra Lynn Gillett of Gonzales, Texas; Deborah Eileen Matusek of Edna, Texas; and Travis Wayne Schulte of North Richland Hills, Texas.  She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Kellie Matusek Warren, Tracy Wayne Gillett, Christa Schulte Hayne, Jamie Matusek, Stephanie Gillett Gomez, Leslie Matusek Kubecka, Travis Wayne Schulte, Jr. and Robert Laddie Matusek.  Loucile also is survived by 16 great-grandchildren: Ashton Rebbecca, Audrey Maxine, and Adelynn Christine Corporon (Kellie Matusek Warren); Thomas Colden and Cortlyn Christine Gillett (Tracy Gillett); Emma Gayle and Sydney Grey Haynie (Christa Schulte Haynie); Kelton Klemcke (Jamie Matusek); Dane Edward, Chase Stewart, and Madeline Elena Gomez (Stephanie Gillett Gomez); Kade Grady and Madison Nicole Kubecka (Leslie Matusek Kubecka); Hudson Forrest, Rhett Asher, and Bethany James Matusek (Robert Matusek).

She is not gone; just away, but will reside in our hearts forever!
