Lorraine Uhlar, 90, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. She was born December 19, 1919 in Bloomington, TX to the late Hollis B. and Vesta Talbott Miller. She excelled as a salesperson in retail sales, where she worked for ten years, late in her life. She was also a devoted homemaker, baking pastries to share with her family and friends.
Flowers and plants flourished under her care. She made her surroundings gracious wherever she was. Lorraine loved the beauty of the outdoors, fishing, walking, and picking up pecans.
She is survived by her daughter: Jeanne Wedemeier and husband Thomas of Selkirk; by her sister: Anna Bowers of Weslaco, TX; her brothers: Bruce Miller and wife Emma of Portland, TX and Oscar Ray Miller and wife Cecelia of Farmington, NM; a granddaughter: Kara Nicholas of Austin, TX; and step grandchildren: Julianne McNeff of Missouri City, TX and Leslie Nicholas of Harrisonburg, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her sister: Miltal Shoemate; and by her brothers: Hollis Miller and W. R. Miller.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, November 19, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM Friday at the Hillside Cemetery in Cuero, TX
