Loretta Ethel Shepard, 91, passed away May 7, 2018. She was born August 29, 1926 in Oklahoma to the late Marion Levi Wheat and Eula Mae Davis Wheat.

She retired as Postmaster at the Cedar Lane Post Office and was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Matagorda General Hospital for over 20 years. Loretta enjoyed square dancing. She was very active in her church until her health began to prevent her from being so.

She was preceded in death by her husband H. H. Shepard in 1991.

Survivors include daughter Kathryn Smith of Bay City; sisters Edna Mae Davis of Angleton and Leona Zamora of California; grandchildren Amanda Garcia, Angie Kovacs and Anthony Kovacs; great grandchildren Jaclyn Deavers, Miranda Davis and Shelby Davis and great-great grandchild Pierce Deavers.

Visitation will begin at 8:30 am Friday, May 11, 2018 at Cedar Lane Baptist Church. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM with Rev. Mike Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Sweeny Cemetery.
