Lola Mae Ruth Jensen, 89, of Bay City, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in Victoria. Lola was born in Karnes County on Dec. 4, 1919 to parents Carl and Sygrid Grill Swenson. She was a longtime resident of the Blessing area of Matagorda County until she and her husband sold their farm and moved to Wharton where they lived for the past 26 years. They had recently moved to Bay City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; four brothers; and a daughter, Chrisey Taylor.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roy Jensen of Bay City; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jan Jensen of Billings, Mont.; a daughter and son-in-law, June and Ronnie Rowland of Bay City; and her grandchildren, Karen and husband Paul Matocha of Ganado, Casey and wife Karen Jensen of College Station, Louis and wife Becky DuCros of El Campo, Jules and wife Sylvia DuCros of Wharton, Ashley Rowland of Bay City, Tracy and husband Kyle Lilly of San Antonio, Christopher Robb of Houston, and Kimberly Robb of Billings, Mont. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation with the family will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Bay City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at the Bay City Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Michael Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing.
