Obituary

Littleton Pierson "Ish" Henry left this world for his heavenly home on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 20, 1915 in Terrell, TX to the late George Byron & Larissa Alice Pierson Henry. He married Edith LaRue Johnson April 23, 1939 and celebrated their 70th anniversary earlier this year. Ish enlisted in the Army Air Corp shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and served the duration of the war. He loved to golf, fish and play ball. He touched the lives of many young boys as he coached their little league teams for years. Ish retired from Phillips Petroleum after 37 years of employment. He left a wonderful legacy for his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a man of integrity; honest to a fault and loyal to those he loved. He enjoyed serving his family and friends and loved spending time with them. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for playing practical jokes. Above all, he loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church in Sweeny for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law James Crisp. He is survived by his wife Edith; daughters Sherry Crisp of Sweeny, Kathie Sexton and husband Kenneth of Sweeny and Terri Haefs and husband Tony of Albany, GA; 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Visitation will be 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Sweeny with Pastors Jerl Watkins and Tony Haefs officiating. Interment will follow at the Sweeny Cemetery. The family request that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church for the Lothie Moon offering or to A-Med Hospice in Texas City.
