IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lisa
Layton
December 10, 1950 – April 23, 2019
Lisa Layton (冼玉華), loving wife and mother of three children, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the age of 68 in Sargent, TX. She was born December 10, 1950, in Canton, China to her late father Man-Hing Sin and mother Shuet Chun Ng.
Lisa was raised by her father and her adoptive mother, the late May Fong Lam, in Canton. She was educated in Heep Yunn School and Northcote College of Education in Hong Kong and graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Accounting. She was a member of Houston's Chinese Lutheran Church.
After a 40-year career as an accountant in Houston, Lisa and her husband Stan moved to Sargent where they completely designed and built their creekside home from the ground up. She would live there for the remainder of her life. She loved working with her hands, from cooking freshly caught fish from Caney Creek to tending to the many flowers and vegetables growing in her home garden. Pansies, daffodils, tomatoes, beans, and various kinds of Chinese squash were some of her favorites. Her energetic spirit also led her to dance in local Zumba fitness classes and attend ladies' nights in the community. As a devoted and hardworking wife, mother, and grandmother, her happiest times were spent with family.
She is forever remembered by her husband Stanley Layton; two daughters, Clara and husband Klinton Law of Missouri City, TX, and Sheila Lau and fiancé Jonathan Larson of Los Angeles, CA; son, Patrick Lau of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Tyler Law and Keira Law; and many cherished relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, TX. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service.
