Born on June 11, 1953, in Palacios, Texas, Linda June Stuhrenberg Wallis was the third of four children to the late Edwin and Helen Stuhrenberg. She was raised on the family farm in the Carancahua community and graduated in 1971 from Palacios High School. Linda attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and completed her Dental Hygiene degree in Houston at the University of Texas Medical Branch, graduating at the top of her class. In 1974, Linda married her high school sweetheart and moved to Baton Rouge. After a short time in Louisiana, they returned to Palacios where Linda worked as a dental hygienist and became actively involved in the community. In 1979, the next chapter of Linda and Craig's life began with the birth of their son Kyle and two years later daughter Courtney on Valentine's Day. During this time, they took advantage of an opportunity to invest in the shrimping industry and Craig honored Linda by naming one of their first boats "Linda June." In the years that followed, Linda's role as a wife and mother became the center of her life and she retired after 18 years in dental hygiene to focus on her role at home. Linda continued to serve the Palacios community as an active member and later an honorary member of the Harmonie Club, a member of the Alapha Club, a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and an adult leader and lifelong supporter of the 4-H Program. Linda seized every opportunity to connect both family and friends by coordinating trips to snow ski, water ski, scuba dive or simply lounge by the beach. Her adventurous spirit only grew stronger as she became "Mimi" to her four grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her husband of 44 years Craig Alan Wallis of Palacios; son Kyle Maxwell Wallis and wife Andrea of El Campo; daughter Courtney Leigh Wallis Kenner and husband Jeff of Fulshear; grandchildren Riley and Abby Wallis and Whittney and Brooks Kenner; brothers W.A. (Bill) Stuhrenberg and wife Gerry and Marvin Stuhrenberg and wife Joan; sister Teresa Adams and husband Jim.
