Mrs. Lillie Jo Sweeny Passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2010 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born to Della Lee and Robert Campbell Burt on Sept. 4, 1915. She was 94 years old.

Mrs. Sweeny grew up in Sweeny, Texas and had a long career as a Southwestern Bell telephone operator in the Bay City and Wharton offices. After retirement and the death of her husband, Odie Sweeny, she lived for several years in the Dallas area with her daughter, Georgia Ann Sonnier. She spent the last years of her life back in Bay City as a resident at the Matagorda House Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter and her brothers and sisters Mary Meador, Arthur Lee Burt, Johnie Burt Robert C. Burt, Jr. and Laurine Farned. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, friends and other family members.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5pm to 7pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Don Storey officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Her family extends a special thank you to the staff of Matagorda House Nursing Home and Houston Hospice for their loving care and assistance during Mrs. Sweeny's long illness.
