Obituary

Leonard "Uncle Bro" Kunefke, Sr., 90 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. He was born July 27, 1920 in Winnie, TX to the late William Paul & Gladys Emeline Adams Kunefke. He served his country proudly during WWII in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre.

He moved to Palacios in 1946 where he married Agnes Maples in 1947 and had four beautiful children. He worked for Sun Oil Co. for 33 years; after retiring he had a passion for shrimping. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and will be greatly missed.

Leonard is survived by his loving family; daughters, Lynelle Plant & husband Johnny, Kathy Conrad & husband Ricky, and Vicki Kunefke, his son, Leonard Kunefke, Jr. & wife Vanessa, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and his sister Thelma Standley & husband Troy. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Agnes Maples Kunefke, and three brothers Verna, Ralph & Robert Kunefke.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Palacios with Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 2438 of Bay City & VFW Post 2467 of Palacios. Grandchildren Sean Conrad, Corri Perez, Jay Plant, John David Plant, Brent Kunefke & Kristin Neumann will serve as pallbearers.
