Leona Popek, 77, of Bay City passed away January 20, 2016. She was born April 29, 1938 in Grenada, Mississippi to the late Felton Shumate and Winnie Sue Hill Shumate.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Johnnie Sue Bryant and a son Jerry Felton Townsend. Survivors include her husband Johnny Popek of Bay City; daughters Connie Mechura (Ronnie) of Lane City, Mary Popek of Bay City and Pam Reis (Paul) of Van Vleck; grandchildren Leslie Davis (Glen), Carrie Sebesta (Matt), Michaela Popek (Michael Riley), Dixi Howery (Dan), Jake Arrington (Krisdee), Keira Reis, Katie Saldana (Ramiro) and Johnathon Bryant (Kelley) and great grandchildren Dylan Lutringer, Gage Davis, Eryn Davis, Landon Davis, Josh Sebesta, Kallie Saldana, Kiley Saldana, Piper Hansen, Parker Howery, Ethan Arrington, Hunter Arrington, Tanner Arrington and Alaina Bryant.

The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 9:00 AM Monday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 25, 2016 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Brother Matt Springfield officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jake Arrington, Ronnie Mechura, Paul Reis, Matt Sebesta, Michael Riley and Dan Howery. Honorary pallbearers will be Weldon Popek, Johnathon Bryant, Glen Davis and Ramiro Saldana.
