Obituary

Lenore Hall Simons of Bay City, Texas passed away peacefully on July 28, 2014. She was born on January 30, 1911 and lived 103 years and 7 months. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lenore Pipkin Hall and Kirk Hall of Dallas, Texas; her beloved husband, Dr. Bryan E. Simons of Bay City: her son, Dr. Bryan E. Simons, Jr.; her daughter, Barbara Simons Slone: her sisters, Nancy Hall Keller, Dorothy Hall and Helen Hall; her grandson, Bryan Gregory Simons, and her granddaughter, Helen Elizabeth Simons.

Mrs. Simons is survived by her son, Dr. James Kirk Simons and wife, Dale of Driftwood, TX; a daughter in law, Glenda Simons Gottlich: eight grandchildren and their spouses: Tod and Lonna Slone, Keet, and Tina Slone, Kirk and Cecilia Slone, Gary and April Simons, John and Elaine Simons, Bryan and Traci Simons., Lanette and Sheahan Paul and Laura and Jason Hudson. Her grandchildren produced 25 great grandchildren: Kailey, Ace, Ky, Kale, Cole, Owen, Simon , Christiana, Garrison, Savannah, Elliana, Arriella, Conil, Caven, Cade, Seth, Tyce, Zack, Ashleigh, Ally, Addison, Mason, Mia, Katherine and Samantha. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Bay City, Texas with Rev. Dr. Mark W. Stoub and Pastor Gary Simons officiating. Interment will be at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

The entire family wishes to especially thank Mrs. Simons' caretaker and friend, Wilma Stredik, for her true faithfulness and care, and the medical staff at Matagorda Regional Medical Center's ICU who gave her excellent and compassionate care.

Lenore Hall Simons will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her for her love for God, for her family, her church and the community of Bay City. Throughout her life, she was so involved with bringing the spirit of culture in music and the arts to this community and in making her gift of music important in all of her family's lives. Our "Nanny" was the true matriarch of the Simons' family and will enjoy her eternal life in knowing that she gave all of her God-given gifts to all who loved her. God has a true angel in Heaven!
