IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laverne Krobot
Garner
October 12, 1935 – April 28, 2024
LaVerne Krobot Garner, 88, of Van Vleck, TX went to be with her Lord & Savior on April 28, 2024.
She was born October 12, 1935 in Needville, TX to the late Alfred & Hulda Kettler Leissner. She was raised on a cotton farm in Damon. She graduated from Needville High School where she was voted Miss Beautiful by the Class of 1953.
LaVerne was a long-time member of Emmanuel Church of Christ in Needville. She was baptized, confirmed, and married in that church. LaVerne worked at Fort Bend Federal Savings & Loan in Rosenberg, Rugeley Motor Company in Bay City and Van Vleck ISD in the tax office and as a secretary until she retired in 1998.
In 1956 she married Irvin Krobot and together they had four amazing children. On March 8, 1998 she married Stony Garner and they remained at each other's side until his death.
She devoted her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and raised her children to do the same. It was her strong Faith that got her through all the trials during her life. LaVerne always had a smile on her face. She never met a stranger. She was encouraging, confident, and faithfully prayed for her family until the very end. LaVerne enjoyed playing dominoes, being with family, taking her grandchildren fishing and crabbing, traveling with friends and dancing to country music and Elvis songs. Her family remembers her rocking her children and grandchildren to sleep singing or humming Jesus Loves Me. Nothing made her prouder than to see the successes of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
LaVerne was a loving wife, mother, and grandma. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Donna Leissner, and grandson-in-law, Stephen Matchett.
She is survived by her four children, son Mark Krobot (Lisa) of Bay City, daughter Kim Johnson (Bob) of Flowery Branch, GA, daughter Kristi Champion (Shannon) of Van Vleck and daughter Korri Weldon (Ray) of Bulverde, TX and twelve grandchildren, Amy Hackworth (Matt), Kyle Krobot (Chelsie), Lauren Hipp (Jordan), Nicole Davis (Corey), Blake Johnson (Katie), Taylor Johnson (Katherine), Bailey Grizzard (Keller), Chase Champion (Jillian), Chet Champion, Macy Weldon, Trace Weldon, and Kaci Weldon. She is also survived by thirteen Great Grandchildren; Lakyn Matchett, Laynee Matchett, Kayla Hackworth, Piper Krobot, Cooper Krobot, Callie Hipp, Rhyan Davis, Landon Davis, Griffin Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Emily Johnson, Sparrow Grizzard and newest great granddaughter Olivia Champion.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Bethany Senior Living in Port Lavaca and Victoria Hospice. Their unwavering dedication, kindness and professional care provided comfort and support for our Mom during her time there, for which the family will remain forever grateful.
