Laura Louise James, 83 of Bay City, passed away Friday, March 16, 2007 in Houston, TX. She was born April 27, 1923 in Bay City to the late Irene Mather Ferrell and John Walter Ferrell. She was a lifelong resident of Matagorda County, a member of the First Baptist Church of Bay City, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie 3232 - Ladies Auxiliary, and was a volunteer with the Matagorda County Museum in Bay City.

She is survived by her daughter: Jimmye Gayle Srubar and husband Roger of Van Vleck; by her sons: John P. Miller and wife Barbara of Bay City and Bill J. Miller of Angleton; and by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: J. W. "Jody" James; her parents: Irene & John W. Ferrell; and by a daughter: Jolyn James.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, TX. Pallbearers are Paul Hanna, Arthur Riggs, Gary Parkey, Woody Riedel, Bob Allen and Mike Henderson. Honorary pallbearers are Rochelle Scott, Destin Miller, Sybil McGlothlin, John A. Miller, Samantha Miller, Jennifer Miller, Darrell Scott, Jr. and Raelyn Scott.
