Obituary

Larry Charles Stansberry, the original Jackaroo, 72, of Angleton passed into glory on November 17, 2023.  He was born July 2, 1951 to the late Robert "Bobby" and Eva Lois (Taylor) Stansberry.

He was raised in Van Vleck where he graduated as a Leopard in 1969.  He spent a lot of time with his cousins and at family gatherings.

Larry worked a variety of jobs through the years with the longest being self-employed as Larry's Appliance over five counties.

Larry was a dreamer and was always coming up with new money-making ideas that he would explore.  He enjoyed the outdoors.  He raised different animals and always had projects going.  Larry took many hunting trips and reminisced fondly of fishing with his dad as a young boy.

Larry also enjoyed hosting barbeques and having people over to watch football.  He had a strong love for football – playing and later coaching.  He not only coached many years, but also took over a small Pop Warner League and developed it into a very large league that still exists today.

He could always be found supporting and watching the Houston Oilers, which he actually tried out for in 1972, and later cheering on the Houston Texans.  In fact, in recent years he was very seldom seen without donning a Texans cap.

Larry had a great sense of humor and met no strangers.  He would visit with anyone anywhere that he encountered.  One of his favorite things was to invite and treat whoever was available to a meal in a restaurant and trip to Walmart.  While at home he enjoyed watching westerns (unless the Texans were on) and listening to all his country music CDs.

Larry is survived by his sister, Corliss (Steve) Clark; sister, Barbara Oldham; brothers, Brad Stansberry, Will (Amanda) Williams and Michael (Angela) Williams and sister, Latonya (Michael) Eulenfeld; daughter, Stacy (John) Beaird, daughter, Sarah Cox, son Jody (Jenn) Stansberry, and daughter, Shellie (Joe) Bell; 14 grandkids, 5 great grandkids along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, November 24, 2023 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, Texas.  Pallbearers will be John Beaird, Jr., Brenton Beasley, Caleb Beaird, Joshua Beaird, Zlenn Cox and Jackson Stansberry.

The family is inviting you to join them at the West Columbia Volunteer Fire Department, 314 E. Clay, West Columbia, TX following the graveside service for a video of Larry's memory and food and fellowship.
