Obituary

Larry "Doc" Campbell was born to Edward and Muriel Campbell on August 13, 1946 in Galesburg, Illinois.  He passed away March 23, 2024.

Doc served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  He held many duties during that time, one of which was a bowler on the Army Team.

After his discharge, Doc continued with his bowling career and bowled professionally.  He traveled all over the US and sometimes would be seen on TV.  Eventually this led to him moving to Bay City on a request from his friends who owned Star Lanes.  He promoted bowling for a few years, after that he tried out a few endeavors until he settled on the entertainment business.  He owned Doc's Party Rentals until his retirement.

Doc was an avid sports fan.  He was a life-long Cardinal fan, for which his friend Bob Klepac gave him grief.  He called the Blackcat Football games on the radio and at the stadium for years.

Doc loved being a Lion.  He was Club Secretary but held many other positions as well.  He was Rice Festival Parade Chairman for many years.  You would see him and Lion Mitch Thames announcing the parade on the Square.  Doc was most proud performing eye screenings for the Bay City School District as well as Palacios and Van Vleck.  He loved helping the kids and their eyesight was very important to him.

Doc helped with the Veterans Parade for a few years.  His most cherished possession was the quilt with his name on it that he received in his first year.

He leaves behind his love Mary Perez and many friends and acquaintances.
