Lannie Ray Gillette, 69, of Palacios, TX, passed away Friday, August 17, 2007 in Victoria, TX. He was born September 5, 1937 in Orange County, TX, to the late John Ferris Gillette and Elsie Mae Williams Gillette. He was raised in Palacios by his grandparents Emmanuel and Palma Gillette. In 1956 he graduated from Palacios High School and in 1962 graduated from Lamar University with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He retired after 26 years from DuPont and 10 years from Degussa Corporation.

Lannie served for the past three years in the First Baptist Church of Palacios as Deacon, Choir member, Gospel Quartet member and Teacher of The Truth Seekers Sunday school class. He loved golfing, fishing and spending time with his kids and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Gillette of Palacios; daughters, Sharon Lynn Stewart (Ruston) of Seabrook, TX and Shelly Jean Gillette of Memphis, TN; son, Steven Ray Gillette (Stephanie) of Driftwood, TX; grandchildren, Jenna Stewart, Jalynn Stewart, Jack Gillette, Lucie Gillette, and Lincoln Gillette; sister Glenda Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN; brother Gary Berry of Acworth, GA.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, August 20, 2007, at the Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Palacios with Rev. Dave Gruhn officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, TX. Pallbearers will be Steven Gillette, Ruston Stewart, Bobby Beresford, Edward Gillett, John Brewer, Donald Eastham, James Jackson, and Charlie Michalik. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of The Truth Seekers class.
