Obituary

Kristen Brooke Smith of Palacios, Texas passed away on March 6, 2025, at the age of 28. Kristen's entire world revolved around her love for her daughter, Elizabeth, with whom she shared many cherished moments, including making homemade pasta, building Legos, hiking and hunting fossils and dinosaur tracks, and nurturing a bond filled with love and care.  Kristen loved her brother, Matthew--A love that only a brother and sister could know, spending most of their childhood days in a tree house they built together in grandma's front yard.  Kristen attended Harvest Time Church when she was younger.  Her favorite scripture can be found in Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Kristen was beautiful inside and out, a problem-solver, athletic, dedicated, faithful, and loved her family and friends beyond measure. When Kristen loved you, she gave you her all and would do what she could to make your burdens lighter.

Kristen had a unique ability to connect with others, particularly the elderly, and she was often found bringing home stray animals in need of care. She was the most amazing mother, daughter, and sister-- a gifted artist and a wonderful cook, bringing warmth and creativity to everything she touched.

In 2015, Kristen enlisted in the U.S. Army, where she served proudly with dedication and honor. She completed her Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany from June 2016 to July 2018. During her service, Kristen was awarded the Army Achievement Medal and Army Expert Marksmanship Badge among numerous other awards.  In her spare time, she also enjoyed playing soccer as a member of the U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden Unit Level Soccer Team.  Her commitment to serving her country and making a difference exemplified her sense of duty and her unwavering strength.

She is deeply mourned by her daughter, Elizabeth Jones and Elizabeth's father Jason Jones; her brother, Matthew Smith; parents, Thu and James Walker; Grandparents, Mae Frontz, Bobbie Walker, Kenneth Smith; Uncles and Aunts, Minh Thach (Lacie), Albert Randon (Mary), Cecelia Jones, Thom Thach (Deborah), Jerry Walker (Keisha), Ba sil Walker, Ngoc Wells (Kenneth), Rhonda Walker,  Regina Morris (Wayne), Kendra Smith; Step-siblings, Caleb, Cole, and Hailey Walker;  and numerous other cousins and family members.  She is also survived by her father, Kenneth Barrett Smith.

Kristen will be remembered for her kindness, her love for her daughter and family, and her dedication to those she cared about. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Hold those you love close and be kind to those around you-- you never know what someone is going through.  May our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ be with each of you in the days and years to come.
