Obituary

Koral Lynn Kornegay was born January 14, 1991 in Houston, TX to Larry Morris Kornegay and Cecilia Christina Loff Kornegay. God called our sweet Koral Lynn home to be with Jesus on October 1, 2021. She was a beloved daughter, a cherished sister, a caring aunt, a special niece, and a precious friend to many.

Although Koral was born in Houston, Texas where she resided throughout her life, she was a country girl at heart. Koral graduated from The Monarch School in 2009. Koral had a true love for animals. She leaves behind her treasured dog, 4 cats, and 2 horses. She worked as a veterinary assistant and achieved Texas Veterinary Medical Association Certified Veterinary Assistant level 2 certification. She had a passion for riding and showing horses, especially Lightning. She earned two American Arabian Horse Association Rider Legion Awards: Horseman of Merit Champion in 2013 and Rider of Merit Champion in 2019; many Arabian Region 9 End of Year Championships, Reserve Championships, and Top 5's; many Region 9 Top 5's and National Top 5's; and South Texas Pinto and Houston All Arabian Show High Point Awards. She enjoyed Tai Kwan Do. Koral was a keen observer and perceptive of the needs of those around her. Being the youngest of her siblings, Koral related well with her nieces and nephews and loved playing with them and connecting to their interests. She was enthusiastic about interior decorating and thrift shopping. She delighted in finding unique gifts for her loved ones. She traveled much of the world. Though it took her a while to warm up, once you knew Koral you quickly learned that she was confident, decisive, and not lacking for things to talk about. She held onto her strong childlike faith to the end.

Koral was preceded in death by her grandparents, uncle Clinton Loff, and cousin Christopher Loff. She is survived by her loving parents Larry and Christina Kornegay; her siblings Steven Rizzo and wife Amy, Kyle Kornegay and wife Megan, and Kendra Sullivan and husband Dan; nieces and nephews, Sam, Rett, and Hank Rizzo; McKenzie, Kaleb, and Kaitlyn Kornegay; and Jonathan, Gabriella, Joanna, and Timothy Sullivan; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. We are all fiercely proud of Koral.
