Kent Thomas Mayfield, 75, of Palacios, TX, passed away on December 20, 2025. He was born December 2, 1950, Palacios, TX to Eli and Wanda Mayfield.

Kent graduated from Palacios Highschool in 1969 and went on to become a California and Texas Bar certified attorney after graduating from Western State University. After living in Northern California, he later returned to his hometown of Palacios, Texas to continue practicing law. Later, in life Kent turned to ranching to continue his and his family's livelihood and to pay respects to something he held dear, nature. He enjoyed the quiet of ranching and would spend his time in the pasture and observe his cattle.

Kent was an avid hunter and angler, who enjoyed hunting and fishing all over the world. He passed on his passion for the outdoors and strong work ethic to his Wife Shelley Mayfield, his Daughter Lindsay Mayfield, and Son Wade Mayfield.  Kent was loved and cherished by his friends and family, who will carry on in his memory the lessons of a man who valued living life as well as you can, hard-work and staying committed to your word and family.

A celebration of Kent's life will take place Friday, December 26, 2025 at Palacios Funeral Home, 701 1st Street, Palacios, TX 77465 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm.
