Karl Hughes Henry, 79, of Palacios, TX passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Born October 24, 1945, in Germany, Karl was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Major Charles H. Henry at the age of five.

Karl spent his youth in Heidelberg, Germany with his parents. Growing up, Karl was an athlete and a musician, playing bass guitar in a rock band. He was also very passionate about the military and served in the United States Army.

Karl graduated from Emporia State College in Kansas, and after landing a job at Texas Instruments, he continued his career as a purchasing manager at TI until retirement.

From 1987-2004 Karl lived in Murphy, TX, where with his wife Rebecca, and family, participated in the foster care system, providing a home to many children in need.

Karl was also a history teacher at Palacios High School.

An avid reader, Karl was an expert on historical subjects including world wars, geography, and world history. He could often be found working on projects in the garage, tending to his tomato garden and koi pond, and watching his favorite television shows. Karl loved music, especially the oldies and military marching songs. Karl was known for his sense of humor and corny jokes.

Karl was preceded in death by his father Major Charles H. Henry, mother Mary Henry, and birth mother Eva Gertrude Stein.

Karl leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Rebecca Henry and their blended family including Laura Henry, Jeff Light, Nathan Light, Desiree Henry, Kira and Sean Leseman, Gloria Henry, Justice Henry and Ammie Cardreon, grandchild Graham Henry, granddaughters Libby Light-Motely and Juliet LaTour, great grandchild Lucy LaTour, and sister Angelina Greulich.

Karl was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father. His knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family.
