Karen Sue (Sprowl) Hudson, 73, of Bay City, TX, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025.

Karen was born on July 26, 1951, in Huntington, Indiana. She was married to the love of her life, Edward Hudson, for over 55 wonderful years. Together, they traveled the world during Edward's 21 years of service in the U.S. Navy, eventually settling in Bay City, where all three of their sons and their families have lived together in the same town for the past 17 years — a blessing Karen cherished deeply.

Family was everything to Karen. She loved spending time with her loved ones, especially during cookouts, birthday celebrations, and holidays. She welcomed everyone with open arms, and her home was always filled with laughter and love. Known affectionately as "Grammy" by not just her grandchildren but so many others, Karen made everyone feel like family.

She loved being on the go — even when she was supposed to take it easy. Her favorite pastimes included playing bingo, gambling, shopping, traveling, and socializing. Karen was one of the friendliest people you could ever meet; she never met a stranger and somehow seemed to know someone everywhere she went.

Her generous heart, strong spirit, and boundless love made her the most devoted wife, mother, Grammy, sister, and friend anyone could hope to have.

Karen is survived by her husband, Edward; her sons and daughters-in-law, Bill & Vicki Hudson, Bob & Sarah Hudson, and Amy Hudson, wife of their late son, Jim Hudson, who preceded her in death on November 1, 2023.

Her eight grandchildren also survive her: Sammantha (Alexis) Hernandez, Brittney, Drew, Mychaela (Clayton) Miller, Peyton, Katie, Shelby, and Loren; and five great-grandchildren: Ari-Anne, Khloee, Roman, Liliana, Rylee, and Tilde & Cavanaugh Fowler. She leaves behind her beloved sister, Cheryl Sprowl of Corpus Christi, her devoted friend Debbie Hernandez, who took care of her and loved her to the end, and many dear friends who were like family.

Karen's legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 3rd at the Wadsworth Community Center, Wadsworth, TX, from 12-4 p.m.
