Obituary

June Marlene Havel, 70, of Blessing passed away Sunday, May 14, 2006 in Houston, TX. She was born June 7, 1935 in San Antonio to the late Alfred & Mabel Pasal Christie. Mrs. Havel was a life long resident of Blessing, a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, a member of Blessing American Legion Ladies Jr. Auxiliary Post 649, a member of ATPE, and a Teacher's Aid/Secretary for Blessing Elementary School for 26 years.

Mrs. Havel was an only child, but always wanted a large family, and was blessed with 6 children, 24 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 expecting. This Mother's Day was a very special one, having her family beside her when she met the Lord.

She is survived by her husband: Frank J. Havel of Blessing; 2 daughters: Katherine Mauch of Blessing, and Sarah Sless & husband Darrell of Louise; 4 sons: Douglas Havel & wife Cathy of Houston, Dennis Havel & wife Ginger of Corpus Christi, Kenneth Havel & wife Marla of Bulverde, and Roger Havel & wife Annette of Blessing; 24 grandchildren: Kelsey, Joshua, Amber, Sterling, Trevor, Eric, Cameron, Stephen, Carson, & Weston Havel, Christie & Gavin Myers, Lee & Cindy Havel, Michelle & Corby Horine, Matthew Mauch, Tara Bull, Danny & Heather, & Amanda Reddick, George & Brittany Scheible, and Matthew Strough and 8 great grandchildren: Lauren, Cassidy, & Caleb Myers, Jadeyn Horine, Tyler Edholm, Zachary Reddick, Ethan Neal, and Brynn Shelton; and expecting 2 special deliveries. Mrs. Havel was preceded in death by her parents and Aunt.

A Rosary was recited at 8:00 PM Tuesday at Palacios Funeral Home. A Mass will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at St. Peters Catholic Church of Blessing with Father Sam Appiasi officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Eric, Joshua, Lee, & Sterling Havel, Matt Mauch, and Troy Sless. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Havel's grandchildren, great grandchildren, Pete Estrello, Henry Havel, Scott Jackson, and Albert Smaistrla. Donations may be made to the Blessing American Legion Jr. Auxiliary Post 649, P.O. Box 192, Blessing, TX 77419, or The American Heart Association.
