IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julio L.
"Polly" Reyes, Jr.
November 26, 1940 – May 29, 2022
Julio L. "Polly" Reyes, Jr., 81, of Bay City passed away May 29, 2022. He was born November 26, 1940 in Spurr, TX to the late Julio Reyes and Lucy Longoria Reyes.
For those who knew Polly, would know he learned many trades over the years. There wasn't anything he could not do. He was a master carpenter, shade tree mechanic, concrete finisher and a jack of all trades He would say that he always tried to learn everything anyone was willing to teach him so he could make sure that he would be able to provide for his family, and he made sure to pass these trades on to his sons. He even made sure all his daughters knew how to change a flat tire, change the oil, spark plugs, and check and fill all the fluids in their cars. He always passed his work knowledge onto his kids, grandkids, friends and anyone willing to learn. He was a people person, and was well liked by everyone he met. Julio never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, especially if they had their car hood up. He was full of wisdom gained throughout his life, and gave the best advice to all his children and grandchildren and was a great mentor and the best listener. He loved family gatherings: drinking coffee, playing dominoes, telling stories, making everyone laugh, fishing, mowing, living in the country, being outdoors and working on anything that had a motor on it. He has left his children with his most accomplished job in life and that was building a foundation of love and respect and putting God first in everything.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Benavides Reyes, brothers Ruben Reyes, Valentine Reyes, niece Mary Jane Gracia and granddaughter Kristal Salazar. Survivors include his children, Lucia Torres, Henry Reyes (Brenda), Sandra Reyes Bickham (Paul), Cynthia Reyes (David), Bobby Reyes, Debbie Reyes Gaspard (Mike), Dianna Reyes Davis, Juan Reyes (Michelle) and Cody Davis; sisters Ophelia (Molly) Garcia, Petranila (Betty) DeLaRosa (Israel), Elvira Mata, Susan Palmarez and Rachel Reyes; brothers Albert Reyes (Reba)and Ronald Reyes. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
