JULIA TANNER HUBBARD: Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother.

Julia Tanner Hubbard was born on June 15, 1913 in Cleveland, Liberty County, Texas. She passed away at the age of 98 on August 10, 2011 at the home of her daughter Monetta, in Brazoria County, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband: W. B. Hubbard; 2 daughters: Zona Marie Hubbard Bender & Jessie Gay Hubbard Hudgeons; and great granddaughter: Courtney Fortenberry. She is survived by 5 daughters: Lena Falks, Willie Daugherty, Bernell Maxwell (husband Sheldon), Monetta Gregurek (husband Phillip), Rena Barnes; and son: Bluford Hubbard (wife Brenda). She is also survived by a half brother: Eston Lloyd; half sister: Jessie Marie Tanner Wheelus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Grandma Hubbard was blessed with 25 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren, and 57 great great grandchildren.

Julia's family moved to the Sweeny area in 1925 to farm. She was the oldest daughter in a family of 13 children. She attended school in Sweeny and later met W. B. Hubbard. They were married in 1930, and celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Of all the things Julia, "Mother", "Grandma" held dear, the most important were home and family. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, making numerous treasured quilts for children, grandchildren and great grandchildren over the years. Cooking was a favorite pastime, and especially loved Sundays and holidays when her large family would come to eat and visit. Gardening, her flowers, and the farm animals were a joy to her. She loved to write, and would tell all of her family how much she loved them in letters and cards.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2011 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Dwayne Partain officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be: Joe Allen Fortenberry, Philip Gregurek, Paul David Gregurek, Mark Alan Gregurek, Jody Daugherty, Billy Schendel, and Bryan Bluford Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers will be: Brian Barnes, David Lee Gregurek, Matthew Gregurek, Christopher Gregurek, Nickalas Bellnoski, Bobby Bender, Ralph Fortenberry, and Daniel Fortenberry.
