Juan Oros, Sr., 91, of Bay City, was called home to be with his Lord & Savior on Friday March 17, 2017. He was born June 24, 1925 in San Benito, Texas to the late Modesto and Bartola Oros.
Juan was a loving and God fearing man & very devoted to his Catholic faith. He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church up until his residency at The Matagorda House where he attended chapel every Thursday & reciting The Holy Rosary. Juan was the type of person who put God first above all and then his family. He was a hard worker and a great provider. He always loved to tell his many stories. Juan enjoyed being around his family and his many grandchildren. He was always in great spirits and always smiling & joking around.
Juan is survived by his loving wife of 72 years Adela Nava Oros and his children; Esther Cantu, Inez(Raymond)Ochoa, Viola(Robert)Rivera, Olga(Ernesto)Mata, Amelia Garza, Belia(John)Avila, Minerva Gutierrez, Juan Oros Jr., Gracie(Jimmy) Martinez, Jose Luis Oros, Martin(Trisha)Oros, JoAnn(Mark)Garza and Jessie Oros. Juan was also a father figure to his niece Petra Cruz. A host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren, and niece & nephews. Juan is preceded in death by his Parents; Sisters, Felicitas Oros, Petra Ortiz, Maria Oros and Anita Oros; Brothers, Jessie Oros, Candelario Oros, Santiago Oros and Sebastian Oros.
Visitation for immediate family will begin at 4:00 pm Tuesday March 21, 2017 followed by Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Adam Oros, Ezekiel "Zeke" Garza Jr., Robert "Bobby" Rivera Jr., Roy Gutierrez Jr., Jose "Joey" Oros Jr., Seth Garza, Cayman Oros, and Arnold "Cookie" Arriaga. Honorary pallbearers are Nick Patton, Benjamin Oros, Jessie Oros Jr., John Matthew Oros, Ernesto Mata Jr., Noah Mata, Robert Lee Gutierrez, Sean Garza, Gabriel Avila, Abraham Avila, Daniel Avila, Michael Rivera, Ronnie Rivera, George Martinez, Raymond Ochoa, Jr.and Justin & John Sosa.
