Josephine "Jo" Mathis, went to her heavenly home on Monday, December 31, 2012. Jo was born on March 19, 1927 in Eagle Lake, Texas to the late Fred G. Frnka and Mary Krenek. Jo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and nurse. She loved being around all her friends and loved to cook. She was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, member of Holy Cross Altar Society, KJT Society, and an Honorary member of Catholic Daughters No. 2054. She was a nurse for 20 years for Dr. Fred Matthes. Survivors include children; Jeanne Osborne & husband Terry, and son Gary J. Mathis; grandchildren, Darrell Osborne & wife Leesa, Trent Mathis and Todd Mathis; sister, Shirley Frnka; sister-in-laws, Eunice Frnka, Nellie Frnka and Wilma Frnka. Predeceased by her husband Sam J. Mathis; brothers, Ernest Frnka, Walter Frnka and Fred Frnka; sister Evelyn Radack. The Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:00 A.M . Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Greg Korenek celebrant. Rite of committal will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6:30P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald Radack, Jim Mathis, Jeff Frnka, Michael Frnka, Ernie Frnka, Darrell Osborne, Todd Mathis and Trent Mathis. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
