Obituary

Joseph Ambrose Ressler died at home in Dripping Springs, TX on August 3, 2013. He was born in Palacios, TX on June 16, 1920 to the late Ira A. Ressler & Hazel Scott Ressler. Joe served in the Pacific on a Navy supply ship during World War II, an experience that provided him with tales that lasted a lifetime. Joe worked as a carpenter building houses with his father and brother, and in the shrimping industry, but his favorite work was as a ranch foreman in Mississippi. Joe was active in his communities, serving as a deacon in multiple churches and as a school board member. He moved to the Van Horn, TX area after retiring where he kept a herd of goats and an assortment of horses, ponies and donkeys. Joe and his wife Jean created many happy memories for their grandsons and great nieces and nephews on that ranch in Van Horn.

His wife, Katherine Jean Dodd Ressler, brothers John & James Ressler, Sister Margaret Gaines, sons Kerry J. & Dennis E. Ressler and daughter Janice L. Ressler all preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughter Robin R. Grace & husband Roger and grandsons Patrick J. Haas, Adam H. Haas & Kerry J. Ressler, Jr.

A visitation will be held at the Palacios Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Palacios Cemetery in Palacios, Texas. Pallbearers will be Adam Haas, Patrick Haas Joe Gaines, Donald Ressler and Herbert Ressler.
