Joseph Walter Chapman, 23, of Van Vleck passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 as a result of a traffic accident near Bay City. He was born in Houston, Texas on December 29, 1985 to parents David James and Virginia Smith Chapman. He loved music and aspired to have a promising and rewarding career playing his beloved drums with his long-time friends in their band. He began playing the drums at age 6 and never gave up. He also loved animals and was a computer "whiz". He recently earned his commercial drivers license and looked forward to traveling the countryside. His great love of life and humor will be remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his parents, Virginia and David Chapman of Houston, a brother, Mason Kapp of Houston, and maternal grandparents, Jean Wilkinson Wales and husband Bill of Bay City. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Helen Chapman of Wixom, Michigan, and by his maternal great grandparents, Walter William and Marjorie Bruce Wilkinson of Bay City. Visitation will be held Friday, May 29 at Bay City Funeral Home and Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 11:00 AM at St Mark's Episcopal Church in Bay City with Rev. Susan Kennard officiating. Interment will be held in the Wilkinson Family Plot at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing. Pallbearers will be Paul Snyder, Coy Reed, Tim Tucker, Marshall Montalvo, Jerry Corenfield, and Neil Richardson.
