Josefina Diaz Guerrero, 72, of Palacios died August 20, 2006. She was born March 19, 1934 in Mexico to Jose and Juana Zavala Diaz. She had been a resident of Palacios for over 40 years and was a member or St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ramon Guerrero. Survivors include two daughters Irene Carpenter of Marshall, TX and Mary Torres of Mobile, Alabama; five sons Jose Guerrero, Juan Guerrero & Ramon Guerrero, Jr. all of Palacios, Abel Guerero & Joe Angel Guerrero both of Houston; three brothers Porfirio Diaz of Harlingen, Jose Diaz of San Jose, CA & Manuel Diaz of Fresno, CA; twenty five grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Funeral mass is 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Dowomoh officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Armando Garza, Jr., Ramon Guerrero III, Joe Edward Guerrero, David Torres, Jr., Juan Guerrero, Jr. and Luis Guerrero.
