Josefa Garcia, 80, of Markham passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 in Bay City after a lengthy illness. She was born in Port Lavaca on October 27, 1935 to Julio & Elena Garza Ybarra, who preceded her in death. Now, she will be reuniting with her husband Benito, and son Rudy in Heaven.
Josefa is survived by her 7 children: Benny Garcia, Anna Torres & husband Tom all of Deer Park, Rachel Daly & husband James of Hitchcock, Bobby Garcia & wife Mary, Joe Garcia & wife Brenda, John Garcia & wife Rose all of Markham, and Debbie Garza & husband Lionel of Sweeny; 8 sisters: Mary Mata, Gloria Casas of San Antonio, Vangie Mackintosh & husband Pete of Houston, Mary Eloise Bruton & husband Marvin of El Paso, Elena Vega, Viola Saenz & husband Raymond, Lupe Perez & husband Steve, and Aurelia Gonzales & husband Jerry all of Victoria; 2 brothers: Hector Ybarra & wife Andi of San Antonio and Luis Ybarra & wife Lydia of Victoria; 19 grandkids; and 24 great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Benito Garcia, son: Rodolfo "Rudy" Garcia, and sister: Bertha Garcia.
Josefa held many titles in her long life: Homemaker, Seamstress, and Mom. But, the one she cherished the most was Grandma. She loved her grandkids with everything she had and spoiled them all. She also loved her Mexican music and dancing. She'll be sorely missed by all who knew her. Rest Peacefully, Mom!
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with a rosary being held at 6:00 PM. The mass will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Mark Garcia, Rudy Garcia, Steven Garcia, Blake Garcia, Cole Kuykendall, and Logan Johnson.
