Jose E. Mejia, 75, of Bay City was born February 15, 1949 in Guanajuato, Mexico.  He passed away May 1, 2024 after fighting a valiant battle of Pancreatic Cancer.

He was preceded in death by his common law partner, Lucille "Chia" Kopecky and wife Ma.Justa Vega de Mejia.

He is survived by his 5 children Rosa Del Carmen Mejia Vega, Jose Juan Mejia Vega, Ma.Guadalupe Mejia Vega, Ma.Consuelo Mejia Vega & Elias Mejia Vega; 4 stepchildren Diana K.Claybourn (Mike), Adam Kopecky (Tara), Crystal K. Garcia (Daniel) and David Kopecky.  Jose is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.  Pallbearers will be Devin Kopecky, Preston Kopecky, Dyan Ledwig, Michael Rodriguez, Jacob Rivas and Joseph Rivas.  Honorary pallbearer will be Adrian Rivas.
