Juan "Johnny" Cortez, Jr., 51, of Van Vleck passed away December 22, 2015. He was born September 18, 1964 in Bay City, TX to Juan Cortez, Sr. and Eliza Martinez Cortez.

He owned and operated Cortez Concrete and took a great deal of pride in his work. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Celeste Garza Cortez; parents Juan and Eliza Cortez, Sr.; daughter Celena Eliza Cortez; sons Juan Cortez III "John" and Joshua Eric Cortez; sisters Melinda Cortez and Felicia Luna; brothers Fermin Cortez and Martin Cortez and grandson Ayden Izayah Cortez.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 1:30 PM Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 2:00 PM with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Little Johnny Cortez, Sonny Ware, Roger Ramirez, Jarred Fehmel, Lee Ortiz and Ray Perez.
