John Jacob Riha, 85, of Bay City passed away January 9, 2013. He was born September 17, 1927 in Glen Flora, Texas to the late Ed Riha and Mary Kallina Riha. He worked for many years as a petroleum engineer for Marathon and Amaco Oil Companies. He was a life member of the Knight of Columbus, member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and Silver member of Association of Former Students at Texas A & M.

Two brothers Charles A. Riha and Edward A. Riha preceded him in death. Survivors include sister Joyce Ann Riha Janik of East Bernard, TX; nieces Cynthia A. Riha and Nancy Riha Garrett; nephew Mark Janik and dear friend Lorraine Younger.

A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church; 1412 12th St.; Bay City, TX with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Mass will follow at 10:00 AM with interment following at Wharton City Cemetery in Wharton, TX. Pallbearers will be Derek Bollom, Tate Janik, Jared Janik, Levi Garrett, Ronnie Bollom and Dane Bollom. Memorials may be made to the Association of Former Students at Texas A & M or charity of your choice.
