John Parker, 88, of Bay City Texas, passed away May 20, 2018. He was born May 3, 1930 in Quinton, Oklahoma to Joseph Robert Parker and Alice Lentz Parker.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, J.T. Parker and wife Helen Parker; brothers-in-law Frank Stevens, Jack Stevens, Ned and wife Naomi Stevens.
In 1951, John joined the United States Marine Corp and completed Boot Camp at Camp Pendleton. He then deployed to Korea and spent 2 years serving as an Infantryman, Small Arms Technician, and Marksman until wounded. He received a Purple Heart and an Honorable Discharge in 1953 after recovering stateside.
John is survived by the love of his life, for the past 64 years, Tece Stevens Parker; son Gary Parker of Lake Jackson, and daughter Donne Schultz and husband Danny Schultz. He was especially proud of his grandchildren Britt Mars and wife Brooke Mars and soon to arrive in October, baby Makena; granddaughters Kristin Mars, Heather Berland and husband Todd Berland and children Kai and Ace Berland. He is also survived by brother-in-law Abe Stevens and wife Charlotte, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 5:00-7:00pm Friday, May 25, at the funeral home. A celebration of his life will be 2:00pm Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with John Frances Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
